Man arrested on child abuse charges in Marshall County

A Marshall County man was arrested Thursday on child abuse charges regarding an infant who had to be taken to a Louisville hospital, according to the Kentucky State Police.

KSP says investigators arrested 19-year-old Johnny Arnold of Benton, Kentucky, on a charge of first degree criminal abuse of a victim under age 12.

The arrest came after KSP was contacted by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services because a 6-week-old baby from Marshall County was taken to Lourdes hospital in Paducah with what investigators say are serious physical injuries. The child was later flown to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville for further treatment.

KSP says Arnold is the child’s father.

Arnold was jailed in the Marshall County Detention Center.
