Donor Days: emergency need for blood donations
You have the potential to save three lives today. That could be a young child with sickle cell disease. Or a new mother undergoing surgery after having a baby. Or a grandparent battling cancer. You could help them all.
WPSD Local 6 is teaming up with the American Red Cross for our annual Donor Days on July 12 and 13. We will be set up at the Robert Cherry Civic Center in Paducah from 7am to 7 pm and the Illinois Star Centre Mall in Marion, IL from 2 to 6pm on both days.
This year’s event comes as a critical time. The American Red Cross says they are dealing with about 61,000 fewer donations than needed. They are making an emergency call for blood donations.
By rolling up your sleeve and enduring a needle prick, you can help patients young and old. The Red Cross reports every two seconds blood and platelets are needed to respond to an emergency in the U.S. They try to fulfill that need by collecting about 14,000 donations every day.
You can help by attending our Donor Days event this week. You can save time by doing one of the following options.
