Carbondale to allow alcohol downtown during solar eclipse weekend

The City of Carbondale will be allowing alcohol downtown during the solar eclipse weekend.

Open containers of alcohol will be allowed in the downtown area from Friday, August 18 – Monday, August 21.

Alcoholic beverages must be in a plastic container and be purchased from a licensed liquor establishment. Coolers and outside beverages will not be allowed.

The open containers will only be allowed between Jackson and Mills Street, and University and Washington Streets between 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. You can see a map of the area below.
