Trivia night to raise money for Mayfield and Graves County scholarships

Folks in Mayfield and Graves County can compete in a trivia night for a chance to win prizes while helping raise money for a scholarship for local students.

The trivia night benefits the Graves County Democratic Women Scholarship Fund, which provides a scholarship to a graduating senior from Mayfield High School and a graduating senior from Graves County High School.

The fundraiser will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24 at the Purchase Players Building at 302 West Water St. Participants can create trivia teams of up to six people, or sign up as individual players or partial teams.

Organizers say former Graves County sheriff and history buff John Davis will emcee, and the $20-per-person entrance fee includes a meal catered by Carr’s Steakhouse.

Another way to contribute is through a team table advertising sponsorship. Those are available for $25 each. Folks who don’t want to sponsor a table or compete in the trivia contest can attend to watch and eat for $10.

Aug. 21 is the deadline to enter the trivia contest and to sign up as a table sponsor. To enter, you can call Emily Cornwell at 270-804-6592 or Lynda Winfrey at 270-705-1975.
