Sikeston man charged with felony child abuse

SIKESTON, MO — A Sikeston man has been charged with child abuse.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety says Monday evening a four month old infant was brought to Missouri Delta Medical Center after it became unresponsive.

The infant’s injuries were serious and the child was transferred to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

During an investigation, police found evidence of child abuse and arrested the father, 21-year-old Austin Brown of Sikeston.

Brown was charged with Class A felony child abuse with serious injury and Class B felony endangering the welfare of a child.

Bond has not been set up for Brown.
