MURPHYSBORO, IL – A man has been charged with possession of child pornography after he was initially arrested on a possession charge, Murphysboro, Illinois, police announced Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Police say Eric Emil Deutsch was arrested on Nov. 16 after officers served a search warrant at his home on Fiddler Ridge Road. Officers say they recovered a large number of cannabis plants and equipment used to cultivate and grow them, as well as electronic devices suspected to contain evidence of child pornography. On the 16th, Deutsch was charged with possession of 20 to 50 cannabis plants.

After investigators analysed evidence on the electronic devices officers recovered, Deutsch was again arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 28, on 20 counts of possession of child pornography.

The Murphysboro Police Department says the arrests are the result of a partnership with the National Internet Crimes Against Children The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search of Deutsch’s home.
