US 45 Ohio River “Brookport” Bridge back open after Wednesday closure

UPDATE: All lanes are back open on the U.S. 45 Ohio River “Brookport” Bridge Wednesday afternoon.

The bridge was closed starting at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday so a solar panel could be repaired. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the bridge reopened to normal traffic around 1 p.m.

BROOKPORT, IL – A bridge connecting Kentucky to Illinois will be closed for part of the day Wednesday.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says they will be a daytime closure on the US 45 Ohio River “Brookport” Bridge between Paducah, Kentucky and Brookport, Illinois.

The bridge will be closed starting at 8:30 a.m. so that a solar panel can be repaired. The solar power was damaged by vandalism sometime over the Labor Day weekend.

Crews will also use the bridge closure for some additional maintenance work along the bridge deck.

The bridge is expected to be closed until approximately 2:30 p.m.

There will be no marked detour. Drivers can self-detour via the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge.
