Investigation underway into officer involved shooting near KY/TN line
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the incident started around 1:15 a.m. in Hickman County, Kentucky when 34-year-old Salvador Byassee did not yield to a sobriety checkpoint on Highway 1218.

The car chase ended in a field near the 300 block of State Line Road when an officer crashed into the pickup truck.
Byassee got out of the pickup truck and ran into the woods with a Hickman County Sheriff’s deputy chasing after him.
According to TBI, the deputy saw that Byassee had a knife and shot at him, killing Byassee. No officers were injured in the incident.
TBI is investigating the officer-involved shooting. The name of the Hickman County sheriff’s deputy involved in the shooting has not been released at this time.
