Job fair brings community resources and potential work from three states

ALEXANDER COUNTY, IL- An upcoming job fair aims to get the community connected to employment and resources from multiple states.

The Alexander County Housing Authority (ACHA) will host the “Get Connected” Employment and Resource Fair on January 10, 2018. It will take place at the Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center at 10th and Poplar in Cairo, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Organizers say the fair is designed to match job seekers with potential employers. People can also learn about and apply for governmental resources.

“ACHA has never hosted an event that brings area workers and companies together in one place and we are very excited that our partners have identified multiple employers with open positions to come to Cairo for this Employment and Resource Fair,” said Towanda Macon, ACHA’s Executive Director.

ACHA is positioned in Southern Illinois, bordered closely by Eastern Missouri and Western Kentucky. That’s why it is partnering with agencies like Man-Tra-Con, Shawnee Development Council, Inc., the Missouri Job Center and the Kentucky Career Center.

A number of agencies brought in by the state of Illinois will also be there to assist families with programs benefiting children, persons with disabilities, and the elderly.
