Three southern IL men charged in connection to shooting

PULASKI COUNTY, IL — Three southern Illinois men were arrested in connection to a shooting.

Around 7:15 p.m. Monday, January 22, Pulaski County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of Market Square Apartment in Mound City on reports of shots fired.

While in route, a deputy saw a car traveling on Highway 37 that matched the description of the car in the shooting.

The deputy tried to stop the car, but it accelerated. The deputy gave chase with the pursuit reaching speeds over 125 miles per hour.

The car stopped in an area just south of Hummingbird Road.

Inside the car were three men and a juvenile. The juvenile had what appeared to be a gunshot wound and was immediately taken to a hospital. The condition of the juvenile is unknown at this time.

Deputies found weapons in the area the car was stopped. They arrested 19-year-old Terrell Johnson of Cairo, 18-year-old Armond Ervin of Cairo, and 18-year-old Jaylen Vinson of Murphysboro.

All three were charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, reckless conduct, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm without requisite owners identification card, and possession of firearm ammunition without requisite firearm owners identification card.

Bond for all three has been set at $100,000 each. Their next scheduled court date is February 5.

An investigation is ongoing.
