Bank robbery under investigation in Hopkins County

MORTONS GAP, KY – The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a bank robbery that happened Wednesday afternoon in Mortons Gap.

The sheriff’s office says a man entered the U.S. Bank on South Main Street around noon Wednesday wearing all black, including a black hoodie. Deputies say the suspect’s face was covered, and he wore a large pair of sunglasses.

The sheriff’s office says the man pulled out a weapon and demanded money from the teller. He then ran away from the scene with the money, and investigators believe he later left the area in some kind of vehicle.
