One person killed, two others injured in Poplar Bluff shooting

POPLAR BLUFF, MO — One person was killed and two others were injured in an overnight shooting in Poplar Bluff.

On Thursday the Poplar Bluff Police Department was called to a home in the 1100 block of Franklin Street on report of a man inside the home with a firearm.

When officers arrived, they heard gunshots coming from inside. As they approached the home, Ricky Davis Jr. appeared in the doorway and was arrested.

Inside the home, they found 36-year-old Janice Thomas of Poplar Bluff who suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

Two other people, 19-year-old Ladaijha Thomas of Poplar Bluff and 25-year-old Oshay Thomas of New Madrid, also had gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a local hospital.

Three other people in the home were not injured.

Davis is being held at the Butler County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges.
