Reminder: U.S. 51 Ohio River ‘Cairo’ Bridge expected to be closed all week

WICKLIFFE, KY — We want to remind you that the U.S. 51 Ohio River Bridge, also known as the Cairo Bridge, is still closed.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet closed the bridge Friday evening due to rising flood waters.

The closure creates about an 80-mile detour through southern Illinois to get from Cairo to Wickliffe.

The bridge is likely to stay closed for about a week, but it may be closed longer if the flood crest rises even higher.
