Multi-vehicle crash involving semis blocks Purchase Parkway in Marshall County

UPDATE: The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says all lanes are back open in a section of the Purchase Parkway northbound that was blocked by crash involving two tractor-trailers Wednesday in Marshall County.

The crash happened in Marshall County between the 50 and 51 mile markers of the parkway.

One of the trucks was hauling chicken offal, or  entrails, which splattered across the roadway. KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says crews went through several rounds of spreading sand and sweeping the roadway to clear the flesh away.

Todd says personnell were considering steam cleaning the road before opening it back up to traffic, but the the decision was made to skip that step.

Crews put down a layer of dry oil on the road, and Todd says the road has been reopened so traffic can work the oil into the pavement.

MARSHALL COUNTY, KY — The northbound lanes of a section of the Purchase Parkway in Marshall County are blocked by a a multiple vehicle wreck reportedly involving two tractor-trailers.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says a couple of passenger vehicles may also be involved in the wreck. The crash site is just south of the Interstate 24 exit 25 interchange work zone.

In addition to the northbound blockage, Todd says the parkway is down to one lane southbound to help facilitate the crash response.
