Tyler Jones charged with murder in death of Peyton Hurt

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, KY — Nineteen-year-old Tyler Jones, the man accused of shooting a 15-year-old girl at a weekend party, was charged with murder on Tuesday.

Peyton Hurt was shot while attending a party in Ledbetter, Kentucky, Saturday night. She was pronounced dead Sunday.

Police arrested Jones and originally charged him with first degree assault. On Tuesday, that charge was dropped.

He is now charged with murder.

Jones could face the death penalty. A preliminary hearing is set for June 14.

His fiance, Alexis Johnson, is also charged with hindering apprehension in connection to the shooting. Her arraignment is scheduled for June 14.
