Kentucky author Bobbie Ann Mason, whose stories provide understanding and insight into how people react to changing times, will be the keynote speaker.

The annual awards recognize individuals and organizations that have made positive contributions to environmental protection and stewardship.

Prior to the awards ceremony, the Division of Forestry will host a tree planting in honor of Earth Day on the grounds of the Berry Hill Mansion. This year’s Earth Day theme is “Celebrating Kentucky’s Forests” in honor of forestry’s 100th anniversary. The tree planting will begin at 11 a.m. and free Willow Oak tree seedlings will be available for those in attendance.
