Event Description

According to the Social Security Administration, the average Social Security check, as of February 2012, is $1,124. For retired workers who have been accustomed to earning a higher income, they may not refer retirement as their “golden years.”

Presenters at a free retirement planning seminar, to be held Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. will show people how to protect their assets, navigate the Medicare system and, in general, transition into a comfortable retirement beyond what Social Security can cover.

Topics to be presented at the seminar include, but are not limited to, charitable giving, estate planning, long-term care insurance, end-of-life decisions, Medicare and planning for catastrophic life events.

The free public seminar is being hosted at the Herrin Church of Christ, 3101 S. Park Avenue in Herrin, Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact S.I. Elder Law at (618) 997-3500.
