Southeast Missouri Food Bank Announces New Volunteer Room

The Southeast Missouri Food Bank is pleased to announce the opening of its new Volunteer Room on November 17, 2009. The room is designed to allow the food bank and its volunteers to repackage and label bulk food for individual family distribution, and sort product and food drive donations. The grand opening will run Tuesday, November 17 through Friday, November 20 with tours available from 8:30 to 5:00 each day.

Civic and Religious organizations, as well as all interested individuals, are encouraged to attend. The SEMO Food Bank has a variety of projects in house now. Individuals and groups are welcome to schedule volunteer hours beginning on November 17. Hours can be scheduled by calling Peggy Childers at 573.651.0400.

Southeast Missouri Food Bank is located at 3920 Nash Road, Cape Girardeau, MO. The food bank serves 150 agencies throughout 16 southeast Missouri counties. Agencies include pantries, soup kitchens, residential care facilities, and schools as well as a mobile pantry and the BFF Backpacks for Friday program.
