Gourmet Minutes - Black Forest Trifle

On this week's Gourmet Minutes with Mallory, Artisan Kitchen chef Karla Lawrence shows Mike how to make a Black Forest Trifle.


1 Dark Chocolate cake Baked, cooled

1 Can Cherry Pie filling

2 Tablespoons Lemon juice

¼ cup sugar

1 teaspoon almond extract

1 teaspoon vanilla


Mix together


Cream Cheese mousse:

1 # Cream Cheese Softened

2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream

1/2 cup Sugar

1/2 Package White chocolate pudding

1 teaspoon vanilla

Beat Softened Cream Cheese till fluffy. Scraping bowl frequently. Add in sugar and white chocolate pudding. Scraping again. While on low speed add Cream to mixing bowl. After cream is incorporated turn up to high speed and beat till light and airy.


Chocolate Whipped Cream:

1 Quart Heavy Whipping Cream

1/3 cup Sugar

1/2 Package chocolate pudding

Add Cream to mixing bowl. Using whisk attachment start on medium speed. slowly add sugar then pudding. turn speed up and whisk till stiff peeks. Do not over beat.


Chocolate Ganache:

1 cup Chocolate

½ Cup heavy whipping cream

Bring the whipping cream to a just boil. Take of the heat and pour in the chocolate and let sit for 2 to 3 minutes. Gently stir until shiny and well blended. Keep warm till ready to use.



Using a trifle bowl or clear glass bowl loosely crumble 1/2 of the cake into the bottom of the bowl. Top with half of the cherry filling, then ½ of the cream cheese mousse, then ½ of the whipped cream. Drizzle with ganache and repeat. Finish the top with pretty ganache drizzles and a maraschino cherry. Cover and keep refrigerated till serving.
