Gourmet Minutes - Grilled Banana Splits

On this week's Gourmet Minutes with Mallory, Shandies chef Karla Lawrence shows Mike how to make grilled banana splits.


- Bananas

- Brown sugar

- Melted butter

- Chocolate chips

- Whipped cream or ice cream

- Marachino cherries

- Sprinkles and/or nuts (optional)


Cut a small piece off the curved side of unpeeled bananas so they'll sit level, then make a deep slit down the center of each through the peel. Gently remove the banana and place the peel on separate sheets of foil. Brush the inside of each banana peel with melted butter, then sprinkle with sugar and chocolate chips. Place the banana and brush the top with butter, then sprinkle with sugar and chocolate.

Fold up the foil. Grill the packets over high heat until the chocolate melts, 6-8 minutes (don't worry if the peel turns brown). Open the peels and top the bananas with whipped cream or ice cream, sprinkles and a cherry.
