Gourmet Minutes - Marinara Sauce

On this week's Gourmet Minutes with Mallory, Artisan Kitchen's Karla Lawrence shows Mike how to make homemade marinara sauce.

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups Diced Onions

¼ cup Olive Oil

1 1/2 tsp. Thyme

1 ½ tsp Oregano

1 ½ tsp. Rosemary

1 ½ tsp. Basil

¼ tsp. cayenne pepper

2 TBS Annisette

1/4 cup minced garlic

1/4 cup sugar

2 - 56 oz cans Diced tomatoes

1 cup tomato puree

½ teaspoon vanilla bean paste

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Sautee onions in olive oil. When onions are transparent add all ingredients with the exception of the tomatoes and tomato paste. Let flavors infuse for about 2 minutes before adding the tomatoes and tomato puree. Bring top boil. Reduce heat and simmer 30-45 minutes. Check salt and pepper and sugar to taste.
