Battle between TVA, Marshall County continues

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. - The Tennessee Valley Authority is scheduled to explain why it's asking for $5,000 from taxpayers in Marshall County, Kentucky.

Last month, they asked the county for an easement fee for the day use park at the end of Big Bear Highway.

But Marshall County Judge-Executive Mike Miller says the original easement expired in 1986 and the county has spent thousands of dollars providing maintenance and upgrading the playground equipment.

Miller said if the TVA does not wave the fee, he'll shut down the park.

Representatives from the county and TVA meet at Tuesday morning's Fiscal Court meeting. It begins at 9:30 a.m. and the public is invited to attend.
