BENTON, Ky. - Police in Benton, Kentucky are investigating a burglary that occurred overnight at Cheers/Beanie's convenience store.

Police responded to an alarm around 3 a.m. Friday at the store on Slickback Road. When an officer arrived, the front glass door had been busted out and the ATM was removed from inside the store.

The Benton Police Department says the suspects were wearing dark clothing with either hoodies or sock caps on their heads. The thieves fled in a black Chevrolet HHR and drove toward Mayfield on KY 58.

Benton Police also believe the break-in could be connected to a separate burglary early Friday morning at a Dollar General in Calloway County, as well as two previous burglaries. One took place at a convenience store in Dongola, Illinois on April 28 while another occurred at a Lyon County convenience store on May 13.

Police say the burglaries might be connected because the suspects used cinder blocks to break in and steal ATMs in each case.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact the Benton Police Department at (270) 527-1333.
