MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. - A Jackson, Missouri man died Thursday in a boating accident on Kentucky Lake, under Eggners Ferry Bridge.

Marshall County Deputy Coroner Barry Taylor says 51-year-old Timothy Allan Clippard died from blunt force trauma.

Garry Clark with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife says Clippard, along with another person, were on a boat heading north, when the boat hit an underwater structure that's part of the bridge.

Clark says that forced the motor to flip up into the boat, striking the 51-year-old and killing him.

The boat's operator was unharmed.

The two were participating in a bass fishing tournament.

The accident caused a traffic back up for miles across the bridge.

Traffic has since been cleared, and is moving across the bridge.
