WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. — Dozens of people in West Frankfort, Illinois, put their lives on hold for a moment Tuesday afternoon to express a little gratitude.

They took off work, stepped outside for their lunch breaks and did whatever they could to welcome a wounded warrior home.

Soldier Chaz Ligon was seriously injured fighting in Afghanistan last December. A roadside bombing killed five of his fellow soldiers but he was spared and after months of recovery, able to make the trip back home.

He will only be in the area for a few weeks before heading back to Fort Sam Houston in Texas until March.
