Driver charged with DUI, criminal mischief after single vehicle crash
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - A Kevil woman faces charges after a crash that sent her to the hospital.
The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says 21-year-old Taylor M. Griffith was driving a 2001 Saturn Vue on KY 286 when the car left the roadway, struck a mailbox, hit a ditch and turned onto its roof.
Griffith was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
An investigation of the crash revealed that Griffith was under the influence of alcohol. She was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs 1st Offense, Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance 2nd Offense and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. The criminal mischief charge stems from damages to the mailbox at 11500 KY 286. Griffith was cited to court for her charges.
McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden adds that a six-foot python was in the car at the time of the crash and crawled out of the car as crews were working the scene. A resident near the scene of the crash held the snake for the driver, who initially believed she had lost it.
