WASHINGTON, D.C. - A local senator wants more answers on the NSA's phone surveillance program.

Illinois Senator Dick Durbin added a provision to a defense spending bill.

It would require the NSA to tell Congress the number of phone records collected, and how many were reviewed by NSA employees.

The agency would also have to provide a list of potential terrorist attacks that have been thwarted because of information obtained through surveillance.
