PADUCAH, Ky. - He was convicted of manslaughter in the abuse and death of a 2-year-old boy, and now the little boy's family is pleading against his upcoming parole.

Ronald Saunders was charged with the murder of Conner Bachuss in 2010.

In January of 2011, his trial ended in a hung jury.

Saunders then pleaded no contest to a much lesser charge of manslaughter, avoiding another jury trial.

Now, the family of Conner Bachuss has drawn up a letter and petition to present to the parole board.

Saunders could be up for parole at the end of this year, and the family hopes this petition will keep him behind bars.

The letter describes the extensive injuries Conner suffered while in Saunders' care.

Saunders was only mandated to serve 20 percent of his 10-year sentence before he would be eligible for parole.
