JACKSON, Tenn. – A grand jury indicted a former county clerk in Tennessee.

Deanna Gray Treece, 63, of Springville, Tennessee faces one count of theft over $10,000 and one count of official misconduct.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested Treece Tuesday.

While working as a General Sessions clerk in Henry County, investigators say she allegedly stole $29,000.  They say between July 2007 and August 2011, Treece held checks sent in to open civil cases.  Then she would use those checks to replace the money she took.

That’s not all.  Investigators say she manipulated the computer system to that money was still owed on the accounts.

Authorities booked Treece into the Henry County jail on a $10,000 bond.  Her court date:  March 11th.
