BENTON,. Ky.---The bells toll outside but there's an even sweeter sound on the inside. It’s the sound of fellowship.

Hundreds come for the food and fun at the First Baptist Church in Benton's Free Community Christmas Dinner.

For Rebecca Pace it's one of the season's biggest blessings.

"Not to have to worry about having the money to get out to go somewhere to get something to eat," Pace said.

Not everyone is able to come. For those people, food is delivered to them. Organizers say church members delivered 100 meals to area families.

"It's sort of fun for our families to go and bring meals to their families," Event Chairperson Karen Vanwingeren said.

It takes nearly a hundred volunteers to pull this off, but Vanwingeren said it's well worth it.

This marks the sixth year for the event. It costs about five thousand dollars to prepare the 600 meals, much of the food was donated by local businesses.
