MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - A crash in McCracken County Thursday morning resulted in the death of a Lone Oak High School senior early Friday.

Carson Oakley was a swimmer, looking forward to prom next week, to graduation and enlising in the military like her mom.

Friday night, many of her friends gathered at Paducah's Downtown Riverfront near the floodwall for a tribute to oakley.

They notified each other of the vigil through Twitter and Facebook, seeing strength in their fond memories of her.

"Carson was an outstanding person. She was probably the happiest person I knew. She could always put a smile on someone's face and the fact that she's gone like that just kind of surprised everybody," Carson's friend, Stephanie Sexton, said.

McCracken County Sheriff's Department investigators say it appears carson Oakley may have overcorrected when her vehicle went off the side of the road, causing it to crash into a fence along Highland Church Road.

Her family chose organ donation and Local 6 learned Friday night, Carson's gift will help eight other people.
