Gilbertsville man behind bars following stabbing

HARDIN, Ky. - A Gilbertsville, KY, man is behind bars in Marshall County facing assault and first-degree domestic violence charges, following a stabbing early Tuesday morning.

Marshall County Sheriff's deputies were called to a house on College St. in Hardin, where they found a woman laying on the couch with a stab wound.  A knife was found on the floor in front of the couch.

According to authorities, the suspect, 58-year-old Michael Nicholas, and the victim, had been arguing and fighting throughout the night, Monday night.  The suspect then allegedly got the knife from the kitchen and stabbed the victim.

Authorities tell us that both the suspect and the victim were heavily under the influence of alcohol.  Nicholas is currently lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
