PADUCAH, Ky. - More bad news regarding the federal government shutdown... this time for Paducah, Kentucky's gaseous diffusion plant.

Jim Key, Vice President of United Steelworkers Local 550, told Local 6 jobs could disappear at the facility soon.

He says if Congress doesn't issue a clear decision about the debt ceiling by October 17, the U.S. Department of Energy will shut down completely.  According to Key's contract, workers will be laid off instead of furloughed.

That means a loss of more than 400 jobs.  200 of those will come from Babcock & Wilcox Conversion Services, and the rest from LATA of Kentucky.
