Graves County drug confiscation following traffic stop

 GRAVES Co, Ky - A routine traffic stop turned into a confiscation of various drug substances for a driver and her passenger.

Wednesday around 7:30 p.m., deputies pulled over a vehicle for speeding 74mph in a 55mph zone.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A field sobriety test was conducted on the driver, Lorna Carrico, 21 and she was arrested for DUI.

After searching the vehicle, the deputy found that Carrico and her passenger, Khalid Aloqail, 23 had also tried to hide pain-killing pills.

Another baggie of marijuana was confiscated from Carrico that she had hidden in her pants.

Aloqail and Carrico were both arrested and lodged in Graves County Jail on various drug charges and traffic violations.

Carrico is charged with Speeding 19 mph over limit, No registration, DUI 2nd degree, Possession of a controlled substance in the 2nd and 3rd degree, Possession of Marijuana, Drug paraphernalia-possession, Tampering with physical evidence, Failure to wear seat belts.

Aloqail is charged with Possession of a controlled substance in the 2nd degree and Tampering with Physical evidence.
