HARRISBURG, Ill. — The board of directors of Harrisburg Medical Center reacted with sadness Monday to the death of Harrisburg Medical Center president and CEO Vince Ashley.

In the release, the board said their thoughts remain with the family and with wife Melinda Ashley, who remains hospitalized.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Department said a vehicle driven by Resa Oswald, 48, of Marion, was southbound on Thompsonville Road Sunday when it struck a motorcycle that was westbound on Corinth Road.

The two people on the motorcycle were the Ashleys. Deputies said both were taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center then transferred to other hospitals for treatment of major injuries.

The accident is under investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Team.

The board met in emergency session Monday to name Rodney Smith as acting president and CEO.
