Hospital in Livingston County on lockdown, police looking for suspect

SALEM, Ky. - Authorities are looking for a man they say assaulted three employees and threatened a deputy at Livingston County Hospital & Healthcare Services in Salem.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Office says they are looking for Kenneth Fitzgerald, of Crittenden County. They say Fitzgerald was born in 1987, stands 5'10" tall, has red hair and brown eyes.

Police say the incident began as an assault on two nurses and a janitor at the hospital. They say his girlfriend had been admitted to the hospital, but the reason is not known.

According to police, Fitzgerald had escaped by the time deputies arrived. A family member tells Local 6 that he also indirectly threatened a deputy.

Fitzgerald is considered to be possibly under the influence, as well as armed and dangerous.

The hospital remains on lockdown. Troopers and deputies are escorting people who have business at the hospital in and out of the facility.
