One dead, four injured in local home explosion

Update:

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky.— The deceased has been identified as Kenneth Story.

The surviving victims of the house explosion are Marty Story, Melissa Mcleod, Ira Greer, and Barbara Parker. The surviving victims remain in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Kentucky State Police investigation is ongoing.

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky.- One person is dead and four other people were injured in the explosion. The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene by Calloway County Coroner Rick Harris.

One victim was airlifted from the scene to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Three of the surviving victims were initially transported to Murray-Calloway County Hospital, before all were later transported to Vanderbilt University Hospital. Two of them were airlifted from Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

An autopsy was scheduled for today in Madisonville.The investigation has centered on a liquid propane wall heater and potential liquid propane gas leak as the cause of the explosion and resulting fire.  The home was a total loss.

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky.— Multiple agencies are on the scene of a home explosion in a Calloway county, Kentucky, community. The explosion happened around 7:15 in the Coldwater community.

Sheriff's deputies shut down part of Highway 80 by Potts Road so that life flight helicopters could launch and land. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

We do know people were hurt in this fire, but the extent of their injuries has not been confirmed. The cause of this explosion is unknown at this time. People in that area have been asked to stay in their homes until first responders get the situation under control.
