MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - Crews shut down an eastbound lane on Interstate 24 for five hours overnight after a semi struck an overpass.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says the trailer of a Freightliner struck the Rosebower Church Road overpass around 11 p.m. Monday night. That's near mile marker 16.

An investigation revealed that the hydraulic lift on the dump trailer malfunctioned, causing the trailer to raise while the truck was traveling on the interstate. The bridge and trailer both suffered minor damage.

The Kentucky Department of Transportation found no structural damage to the bridge and deemed the overpass safe for drivers.

The driver, Lawrence A. McBride of Marion, Kentucky, was not injured. No contents were spilled from the trailer.
