FRANKFORT, Ky. - People could start growing industrial hemp in Kentucky sooner rather than later.

A recent ruling by the U.S. Justice Department honors state laws involving the crop.

State Agriculture Commissioner James Comer says the ruling clarifies that the federal government does not and will not view Kentucky's industrial hemp as an illegal product.

Hemp could be a replacement for tobacco farmers who continue to see their incomes dwindle.
