PADUCAH, Ky. - Members of a local American Legion have reason to celebrate something unique.

Tuesday evening, Carol Gautney was sworn in as the first female commander of American Legion Post 31 in Paducah, Kentucky.

She's been a member for 27 years.

Gautney is an Army veteran who served in Germany and in the United States.

Service is something that runs in Gautney's family.  Her father was a World War II veteran and her brother is a Vietnam veteran.
