LAS VEGAS - A local couple thought their trip would be about work, but they ended up trying to save a man's life.

Richard and Tara Montgomery were in Las Vegas Wednesday when they saw Charles Schueler fall 150-feet from an MGM Grand Casino sign.

Schueler is a worker with a contracted company to fix the casino's sign.

When the Montgomerys saw Schueler fall, Tara, who is a retired nurse, kept Schueler's airway open while Richard prayed.

The two say they only reason they were there was because they won a business trip to Las Vegas.

Schueler is in critical condition and needs numerous surgeries.

He has no brain or spinal injuries and was even sitting up and eating Friday.

OSHA is investigating.
