METROPOLIS, Ill. - A locomotive fire has stopped a Union Pacific train near Mermet Springs in Metropolis, Illinois.

The conductor says an alarm went off and he saw smoke and flames coming from the train's second locomotive.

Only the conductor and the engineer were on board at the time of the fire. No one was injured. There is no word yet on what might have caused the fire.

The train was pulling 105 cars and was hauling coal, according to the conductor.
