Man arrested after police catch him, 2 others, gambling

CARBONDALE, Ill. - A man with a gun tried to avoid arrest, but ended up behind bars anyway.  That's according to police investigators in Carbondale, Illinois.

It happened Monday afternoon.

Police officers say they saw three men gambling near the street while they were in the 700 block of North Robert A. Stalls Avenue.  When they walked up to the men, they ran.

Officers say they arrested one of them, 27-year-old Nickoliest A. Brown.  At the time, police say he had a handgun on his person.

They charged Brown with several crimes including armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of weapon and resisting.

After his arrest, police took Brown to the Jackson County Jail.

Investigators say they are still looking for the other men.
