Man dies after suspected DUI crash on I-24

OAK GROVE, Ky. - One man is dead and a truck driver is in jail after a semi slammed into the back of a car late Thursday morning.

The crash took place near mile marker 89 on Interstate 24 eastbound in Christian County.

Kentucky State Police say 69-year-old Harold Johnson, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, died after a semi driven by 54-year-old Timothy Baldwin, of Monticello, Minnesota, collided with the back of Johnson's 2005 Buick Terraza.

The impact forced Johnson's car off the road into a nearby ditch. Johnson and his wife, 68-year-old Louise Johnson, were taken to Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Mr. Johnson was pronounced dead at the hospital. There is no word on Mrs. Johnson's condition. Baldwin was not injured in the crash.

Police arrested Baldwin at the scene and charged him with Murder, DUI 1st Offense, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (On Foot), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (Police Officer) and Resisting Arrest.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
