Man dies in wreck while test driving car with mother
PADUCAH — An area man was killed and his 77-year-old mother was seriously injured while test driving a car.
Paducah Police said James H. Shelnutt, 52, of Goreville, Illinois, was driving a 2012 BMW 128i owned by Paducah's Bluegrass BMW. The vehicle hit an embarkment and overturned when Shelnutt reportedly failed to negotiate a curve on County Park Road near Coleman Road.
Officers said Shelnutt died in the accident and his mother, passenger Sally A. Watt, of Carbondale, Illinois, was injured. She was taken by ambulance to Western Baptist Hospital and later flown by helicopter to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
The Paducah Police Department’s accident reconstruction team is reconstructing the accident.
