MARION, Ill. - A Marion, Illinois police officer has resigned and another is on paid administrative leave following accusations of brutality.

The moves come after an investigation into an incident that took place on February 10. The City of Marion Police Department says the two officers were seen handling a suspect in a manner that "appeared to violate the law as well as departmental policy."

The Illinois State Police began an investigation into the incident after the agency was notified by the Williamson County State's Attorney. The FBI took over that investigation on February 15, and it remains ongoing. Findings will then go to the Department of Justice for review.

Marion Police did not release any other details surrounding the investigation.
