MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. - Someone's missing from the softball field at Marshall County High School.

That's how people felt Thursday night as they dedicated a memorial plaque to Landon Lovett.

The new concession stand at Marshall County High School now bears the name and likeness of the player whose life was cut short by injuries received in a traffic collision.

Between the J.V. and varsity games with Calloway County, players and coaches payed tribute to a girl who spent eight seasons on the ball field.

"The turnout just to show support was wonderful," Coach Jennifer Burnham said.

"We're just so proud that the community and softball program came out to just honor a wonderful young lady that we can both stand here and say was a blessing to us as we coached," Coach Patricia Greer said.

Lovett passed away in November after the crash in May of last year.

Cory Burkeen is awaiting trial in the case after tests found a potent combination of pills in his bloodstream at the time of the crash.
