Massive blaze burns building in Johnson County, Illinois area

JOHNSON COUNTY.  New details have come to light concerning Thursday's stage theater fire in Southern Illinois.

Several fire departments extinguished the flames at the Kornbread Junction.  It's on Tunnel Hill Road in Johnson County, Illinois.

It's a venue that serves as an event hall handling small shows, concerts and wedding receptions.

The owner, Phil Morris, told Local 6 he and his wife live at the facility in an apartment.  Morris said they were there Thursday morning and heard a pop in the attic, then saw smoke.

There's no word yet on what caused the fire.  Fire crews have left the scene.

VIENNA, Ill. - A massive fire rips through a stage theater in Illinois as firefighters try to contain the blaze.

It's happening on Tunnel Hill Road in the Vienna area.

Just before 3 p.m. Thursday, Local 6 learned multiple units responded to the scene including Vienna, Goreville, New Burnside, Carrier Mill and Lake Egypt.

No word on injuries.

Local 6 will release more information as it becomes available.
