McCracken County Attorney's Office investigating alleged I-24 assault

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. - New details on a confrontation between the McCracken County emergency manager and a former employee.

The county's attorney says his office is investigating the fight.

A Paducah Police report says it started when Manger Paul Carter and Anthony Hess responded to an accident.

Carter says Hess is a former employee who has not returned his DES jacket.

Hess told police Carter choked him and yelled "I will kill you."

The police report notes Hess had redness on his neck when police responded to the situation.

Carter says he was just defending himself.

McCracken County Attorney Mike Murphy says is office will interview everyone involved.

The county fiscal court will then review the interviews with the police report before discussing the situation in the August 12 meeting.
