PADUCAH, Ky. – A McCracken County man is in jail following the bust of a methamphetamine lab.

Police arrested 34-year-old Leonard F. Hamilton on a charge of Manufacturing Methamphetamine at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday. The bust took place at Highland Terrace Apartments in the 1100 block of North Friendship Road.

Officers showed up in response to complaints of a "strong smell of chemicals" coming from the apartment.

Hamilton told officers he was the only one involved in the drug manufacturing, and that his girlfriend didn’t understand what he was doing. Hamilton also led officers to the kitchen, where there was an “active” bottle of meth. Kentucky State Police took possession of the active bottle.

Hamilton was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail. His girlfriend was not charged.
